At Dime, community is kind of our thing. Or all of our thing. Not only do we love the communities we live and work in, but we are constantly finding new ways to help our communities. That’s why we partner with CHiPS Home, Christian Help, Inc., of Park Slope, a soup kitchen doing amazing things here in Brooklyn.
For 47 years, CHiPS has been helping those less fortunate by providing hot, nutritious meals served in a caring and respectful environment. Neighbors, volunteers, and friends come together to help make a small difference in the lives of those in need in our community. CHiPS also provides seasonal clothing, emergency pantry items, and shelter for young mothers and their children, all offered free of charge in hopes of helping the disadvantaged find independence and strength.
CHiPS was founded by members of the St. Francis Xavier Church in 1971. It was the first Catholic non-profit agency for the poor, hungry, and homeless in Park Slope. The group started in a small storefront, offering coffee, sandwiches, free medical consultations, and legal assistance. Over the years, CHiPS grew and expanded with the generosity of community supporters, including the Park Slope Food Co-Op, the Food Bank, United Way of NYC, FEMA, and more.
Providing over 100,000 meals each year, CHiPS still relies heavily on volunteers, support, and donations from the community. Currently, CHiPS is seeking donations to help renovate their busy dining room through the CHiPS Soup Kitchen Seat Naming Campaign.
Dime is proud to help sponsor CHiPS and all they do for those who deserve help most in our community. If you’d like to be a part of this amazing organization, they are always looking for more volunteers and donations.
