Garden City Park

Founded in 1869 by multi-millionaire Alexander Turney Stewart, known as the “Merchant Prince” for his successful development of department stores, Garden City began as 10,000 acres along the western portion on the Hempstead Plains. It is noted as one of the first planned communities in the nation, boasts a rich history, and an even richer culture.  Today, Garden City is home to over 22,000 residents. It provides educational training and development at all levels through Adelphi University, the highly regarded Garden City Union Free School District and Nassau Community College.
